A good indoor soft toy for children, and is great for a hand exercise! Finished size : About 3 1⁄2 inches diameter 

Materials: Scraps of worsted weight yarn, about 25 yards total, plus small amount pillow stuffing or old pantyhose for stuffing. 

1 Pair US size #6 needles
Gauge: 11 sts = 2 inches 10 rows = 1 inch 

Directions: Beg. At side edge, cast on 22 sts.
Row # 1: Slip first st as if to knit, knit across. Repeat this row until about 4 inches from beg. Bind off. Piece should be about 4 ” x 4 “. Thread sewing needle with yarn end and weave in and out of one edge of row “bumps”. Pull tight to close bottom, fasten, then sew side seam. Make a tight ball of pillow stuffing or old pantyhose, and place in ball. Weave yarn in and out of opposite edge, pull tight, fasten then weave yarn ends to inside of ball.

Finished size, about 4 inches high, 4 inches wide

Materials – 4 Ply worsted weight yarn, small amount, plus knitting needles, 1 pair US #9

Gauge –Approximately 4¼ sts = 1 inch

Directions:

Starting at bottom of coaster, cast on 17 sts.

Knit 2 rows.

Row 3 – K 2, p across to last 2, k 2.

Row 4 – K across.

Row 5 -Repeat row 3.

Row 6 – K 7, p 3, k 7.

Row 7 – K 2, p 5, k 3, p 5, k 2.

Row 8 – Repeat row 4.

Row 9 – Repeat row 5.

Row 10 – K 4, p 9, k 4.

Row 11- K 2, p 2, k 9, p 2, k 2.

Row 12 – K 4, p 9, k 4.

Row 13 – K 2, p 3, k 7, p 3, k 2.

Row 14 – K 5, p 7, k5.

Row 15 – K 2, p 4, k 5, p 4 , k 2.

Row 16 – K 6, p 5, k 6.

Row 17 – K 2, p 5, k 3, p 5, k 2.

Row 18 – K across

Row 19 – K 2, p across to last 2, k 2.

Row 20 – K across

Row 21 – Repeat row 19.

Knit 2 rows, then bind off in K st. Weave in yarn ends. Use either side for right side of coaster.
